Los Angeles spans a widely diverse geographic area. Primarily a desert basin, the area is surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountain range and divided by the Santa Monica Mountains. The Spanish named the new settlement El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles, or The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels.
Malibu is a beautiful city full of picturesque views. It has excellent beaches where one can go swimming, sailing and indulge in other water sports. There are a number of parks which have facilities for baseball, soccer and other sports. One can also go hiking, mountain biking, cycling and horse riding.
Santa Monica is a beachside city of 8.3 square miles on the westside of Los Angeles County. Recently named by National Geographic as one of the Top “10 Beach Cities in the World” and by TIME as one of the “Best Places to Live”, Santa Monica features three miles of Pacific beaches and the Santa Monica Pier.
